Womanism and Black Feminisms

i wish i could put into words the unique feeling of euphoria i experience during the months of february and march. as a Black femme, moving from Black History Month to Women’s History Month, i appreciate the opportunity to spend this time reflecting on my unique positionality at the multiple intersections of these two identities.
.
this booklist is an opportunity to highlight and uplift Black feminisms and womanism. due to misogynoir (the specific discrimination experienced by Black women) we have had to recreate and reimagine our relationship to feminist thought and theory- that’s where Black feminism and womanism come in. as we take time to center the experiences of women (in all iterations of the word), i wanted to hold space for this exploration of Black feminist and womanist thought.
