The Schomburg Center Digital Collections
The Schomburg Center Digital Collections, part of the New York Public Library, holds manuscripts, rare books, photographs, and archival materials about people of African descent around the world. It is especially useful for connecting African American history to the wider African diaspora. For example, you could research Marcus Garvey or Harlem by studying a speech, photograph, or rare publication and explaining how ideas traveled between New York, the Caribbean, Africa, and other communities.
