Fatphobia is Anti-Black
throughout the entirety of this pandemic and now as we enter the am*rican holiday season, many of us have been fielding comments from friends, family members, media, and even strangers that perpetuate fatphobia. fatphobia describes both interpersonal and structural dynamics that marginalize fat, fat-adjacent and plus-size folks. fatphobia is very much tied to anti-Blackness. fatphobia is also tied to capitalism, classism, ableism and the medical industrial complex. this edition of r4bl explores the anti-Black origins of fatphobia and centers the experiences of Black folks as related to fatness, fatphobia and diet-culture.
